The Aims of the Bhaktivedanta Academy of Arts and Sciences are:

• To create a network of communication among the members of the Academy in order to strengthen the integrity and excellence of scholarship among disciples of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

• To encourage collaboration between members through sharing and coordination of research, resources, skills and experience so as to create a basis for future scholarship.

• To encourage the development of ISKCON’s academic and educational institutions, programs and projects.

• To provide a forum for association and academic exchange among members through conferences, meetings, and the publication of relevant research.

• To further develop fields of study related to Caitanya Vaishnva scholarship in the humanities, arts and sciences.

The Bhaktivedanta Academy of Arts and Sciences nourishes devotional and scholarly values, such as:

• A solid connection to the Vaishnava tradition, as a tradition of scholarship and a tradition of practice.

• A clear and broad vision, clarifying where we want to go and what we want to do.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the “field” in which we work, knowing what are the current claims, based on what evidence and what reasoning, as well as the history and scope of our field.

• Respect and appreciation for other scholars, Vaishnava or otherwise, and their achievements and points of views.

• Flexibility and creativity, or a readiness to catch opportunities and develop them.

These points were developed from Krishna Ksetra Dasa’s Key Note Lecture at the 2008 BAAS Conference.
